FILM OF THE WEEK - LOVE ACTUALLY

Posted

Possibly the most watched DVD of all time!

Set in the remote countryside of France, Love Actually has a magical moment when the wind whips the loose pages of Jamie's (Colin Firth) work in progress novel off the table and they drift into the lake.  Aurelia (Lucia Moniz) the housekeeper leaps into the water to retrieve them, followed reluctantly by Jamie.

The scene is a beautiful reminder of hot lazy summer days and the dream like quality of wild swimming.

"There is a feeling of absolute freedom and wildness that comes with the sheer liberation of nakedness as well as weightlessness in natural water...they allow us to regain a sense of what is old and wild...swimming is a rite of passage, a crossing of boundaries: the line of the shore, the bank of the river, the edge of the pool, the surface itself.   When you enter the water something like metamorphosis happens." Roger Deakin - Waterlog

Swimming is more than just a fabulous way of getting fit, it's food for the mind and the soul, stilling those negative inner voices and firing you full of energy.

Whether you're swimming in a pool or taking on the elements with outdoor swimming, happy swimming to you all x
