12 TIPS TO HELP YOU FIND TIME TO EXERCISE...

Posted

Sometimes it feels so difficult but here are a few tips to help....

START SMALL

Even if it’s just a ten minute walk in your lunch hour. Those ten minutes have the potential to become half an hour, the key is to start.

GET A PEDOMETER

This will so scare you into action, particularly if you work from home!

TRADE IN TV FOR EXERCISE

Trade in half an hour a day to start with - go for a quick swim or a walk, it can easily grow to an hour.

MAKE SPORT A SOCIAL MOMENT

Next time a friend says lets meet for lunch counter the offer with the suggestion of a game of badminton or a bike ride

MAKE YOUR PHONE CALLS WHILE YOU WALK

That hour long catch up call to your oldest friend - do it on the move instead of slouched on the sofa.

ROUTINE

Try and find the same time every day, it will make it easier if everyone in your house knows when your time is to do your sporty thing

IF KIDS MAKE IT TRICKY ROPE THEM IN TOO

There’s lots of shared sports you can do from swimming to kick boxing to sailing, being a physically active parent sends a great message to children.

EXERCISE FIRST THING IN THE MORNING

Once the day has started everything gets more urgent as it goes on. Get it done early, feel great about yourself all day. I totally swear by this one.

WALK OR CYCLE INSTEAD OF TAKING THE CAR

PICK SOMETHING YOU LIKE

It’s obvious but millions are wasted every year on gym memberships. If you didn’t like the step machine last October you aren't going to like it in February either!

WAITING FOR KIDS

Parents spend a lot of time waiting.  Instead of fitting in the shopping or a chore take your bike - go for a ride or have a swim while they have their lesson.

MANAGE YOUR TIME AT WORK

My all time favourite - compress your time, this applies to everything, tasks always expand to fill the time, give it less time and you will do it faster.

Go on, just make one small change and who knows how far it will take you...
